Pro-Ject 1 Xpression Mk3 turntable with Ortofon 2M Red cartridge
The Pro-Ject 1 Xpression Mk3 Turntable is Pro-Ject's first serious step up the ladder from the Debut models. A precision made acrylic platter makes for excellent speed stability and better damping, spiked aluminium and sorbothane feet provide isolation from external vibrations plus the arm has improved bearings over the Debut models and is made from very light and rigid carbon fibre. All in all the Pro-Ject 1 Xpression Mk3 provides a significant improvement in sound quality.
Build quality is to the usual very high Pro-Ject standard and the turntable can be upgraded easily by replacing the standard stylus with styli further up the Ortofon OM range. See below for options and potential savings, but in addition the arm and deck are capable of taking any number of other cartridges should you wish to. Unlike the Debut models it has an acrylic platter rather than a steel platter and the arm is height adjustable. This means that if you want you can use a variety of different cartridges including Moving Coil models. The arm really is one of the strong points of this deck. It has phono inputs on the back raher than a captive lead, so the cabling can be upgraded and the feet make quite a difference.
